FAQ

Who makes your meals?

We do! We have a commercial kitchen space at Ghostline Kitchens – a shared kitchen in Austin, Texas. All of our food is produced from scratch and freeze-dried by us.

Why did you choose these meals?

When we’ve had a long day on the trail, we like big, bold flavors with a special twist. We’ve always enjoyed comfort foods from all kinds of cultures, and we appreciate a variety on the trail. We can't wait to develop and share more meals with you all over the coming months and years as well grow. We hope you enjoy some our very first meals!

Can I rehydrate my meal in the bag?

Yes! Our bags are made to handle boiling water. Be sure to take out the Oxygen Absorber packet and garnish (if applicable), stir well and let sit for the recommended time on the packaging. Then, enjoy!

What’s the shelf life?

Our food is packaged in a way that intended to achieve long shelf live for many many years. However, we use recommended 'best by' dates within the 18-month to 24-month range to offer optimal taste. The expiration date of each meal is posted on the packaging.

How can I dispose of the bag?

Our packs are optimized for rehydration with boiling water and for long term food storage, so that you can eat the meal the day you buy it or years later. Unfortunately, this means our packaging includes plastic. Please don’t burn or bury it. Pack it in, pack it out.

What did I do wrong? My food is mushy or too watery.

Oh no! This likely has something to do with altitude. You may want to wait a little longer than the recommended wait time on the package when above 7,000ft. We always recommend starting with the water amount specified on the package – you can always add a little more later if it’s not quite rehydrated to your liking.

Where can I buy your meals?

All of our products can be purchased through this website. A select few motels, hostels and outfitters across the US carry our products as well. Stay tuned for upcoming announcements about new retail locations where you can find us.
