The flavor and quality far exceeded my expectations for a backpacking meal! Nearly restaurant quality with absolutely amazing flavor. You could put this on a plate and fool someone, backcountry or not. So glad to hear about this through an online video so I could find a new favorite meal! Just placed another order to restock!
We have a winner!
Definitely the best backpacking food i've had. The spices are great, and the char from the chicken really makes it taste like something that was just grilled up. If you are on the fence, don't be, it really does taste like Indian take out.
I'm at about 5k ft in altitude, and it did need a longer time to properly fully hydrate, about 30 minutes. The 1 and 3/4 cup of boiling water measurement was spot on.
I do wish B&K comes out with some vacuumed packed versions so I can pack more of these in my bear can.
Bravo!
My wife and I tested this one out and we both agreed that it was really tasty. Bowl and Kettle did not skimp on the chicken and the spice level is on the mild side for an Indian dish. The garnish makes it feel like it came from a restaurant. We both ate two pieces of naan bread to round out the meal. This one is a winner!!
After a long day on the trail, there’s nothing better than a hot, satisfying meal—and Bowl & Kettle’s Chicken Tikka Masala delivers big time. This isn’t your average freeze-dried dinner; it’s rich, flavorful, and genuinely feels like something you’d get from a solid Indian restaurant.
The char-grilled chicken has great texture (not mushy like some dehydrated meals), and the tomato and cream masala sauce is packed with deep, warming spices. The Kashmiri chili gives it just enough heat without overpowering, and the yellow basmati rice rehydrates well, maintaining its fluffiness.
If you’re looking for a premium, high-protein trail meal that actually tastes like real food, this one’s a winner. Would 100% take this on another trip!
When I tell you this food tasted like I hiked 10 miles with a pack of steaming hot Togo chicken tikka masala that was perfectly preserved…you have to believe me. This did not taste like any other backpacking food I have tried.
This was the perfect comfort after hiking; replenishing to do the same the next day!
